SHOULD STILL
BE
After the death of George Floyd in May 2020, and the protests that followed, there was a call for reflection, education, and accountability. In many moments, I felt helpless and unsure how to proceed forward. This is part of the discomfort that comes from questioning the assumptions and systems within which many of us were raised. By nature, the work is ongoing and will never end. Originally, this project was supposed to span a few months with several images churned out in a matter of weeks. I quickly realized in order to do the work justice, this would need to change. Now a lifelong project, I intend to share these stories for years to come. Through the following essays, I invite you to read about the project, the process, and about a few of the humans that should still be living among us.
